DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a method for verifying the legitimacy of an email message by using a digital signature. When DKIM is enabled for a given domain, a public key is published to the global Domain Name System and a private one is kept on the email server. When a new message is sent, a signature is issued using the private key and when the message is received, the signature is authenticated by the POP3/IMAP email server using the public key. Thus, the recipient can easily distinguish if the email message is legitimate or if the sender’s address has been spoofed. A discrepancy will occur if the content of the email has been edited on its way as well, so DomainKeys Identified Mail can also be used to make sure that the sent and the delivered email messages are identical and that nothing has been added or deleted. This validation system will enhance your email safety, since you can confirm the authenticity of the important email messages that you get and your partners can do likewise with the emails that you send them. Depending on the particular email provider’s adopted policy, an email that fails the examination may be deleted or may end up in the recipient’s mailbox with a warning flag.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Website Hosting

If you get one of the Linux cloud website hosting services that we’re offering, the DomainKeys Identified Mail option will be enabled by default for any domain that you register under your hosting account, so you will not need to create any records or to activate anything manually. When a domain is added in the Hosted Domains section of our custom-developed Hepsia Control Panel using our NS and MX resource records (so that the emails related to this domain name will be handled by our cloud hosting platform), a private cryptographic key will be generated straight away on our mail servers and a TXT resource record with a public key will be sent to the DNS system. All email addresses set up using this domain will be protected by DKIM, so if you send email messages such as periodic newsletters, they will reach their target destination and the receivers will be sure that they are authentic, as the DKIM functionality makes it impossible for unsolicited parties to spoof your e-mail addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail feature is included by default with any domain name that is added to a semi-dedicated server account with us. It should also use our name servers, so that its DNS resource records are handled by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT resource record to be set up, which is actually the public encryption key that confirms if a specific email message is genuine or not. This record is set up as soon as a domain is added to a semi-dedicated server account through the Hepsia Control Panel and in the meantime, a private key is created on our mail servers. If you use our email and web hosting services, your email messages will always reach their target viewers and you will not need to worry about unauthorized people forging your email addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is something pretty important when you use email messages to reach your business allies.
