Dot IT Domain Names

Introduced in 1987, Italy’s dot IT country-specific extension is really popular both locally and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for building inventive and interesting domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to create an easy-to-memorize domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to return to your website or to give it with coworkers and fellows. The domain extension can also be used for a website, which is connected to the technology sector as IT is an abbreviation, which is known worldwide.

Since dot IT domains are not sold directly by IT-NIC, the Registry organization that controls this extension, such a domain can be purchased through a 3rd-party domain provider, such as ours. We will manage the registration process for you and take care of submitting your application to the Registry. You can order a .IT domain for a year at a time, and the domains are transferable, so you can move your existing domain over to our firm and we will renew it after the transfer has been finished. The sole restriction is that the person obtaining such a domain needs to be located in a country, which is a member of the EU.

Because there are existing 2nd-level Domains that include names of various regions and localities in Italy reserved for local 3rd-level registrations, new names that consist of geographical regions of any sort are not allowed on any level to avoid any future confusion. We do not support such third-level domains, though, given that they can be registered only by locals.
